Five Go Camping (3/5)
"Coo-er", said Baby Paws.
"I say!" said Baby Drummer. "This is a turn up for the
books."
"Hooray", yelled Baby Applejack. "I just knew we would
have an adventure! Let's find the treasure!"
"Hang on a minute," said Baby Bowtie. "This is someone
else's treasure. Won't that be stealing?"
Applejack gave Baby Bowtie a look of despair. But Bowtie persisted.
"It might be dangerous," she said.
"Good," said the other three. And they set off in the direction
of the treasure.
"If my compass is correct, then we should come to a river soon,"
said Baby Paws. And sure enough, a few minutes later a deep, wide river
came into view.
"Oh blast," said Baby Drummer. "It's too deep and wide
for us to swim across."
"We could make a boat," suggested Baby Paws.
"I wish Firefly was here," wailed Baby Bowtie. "She could
fly us across."
"You dunderheads," said Applejack. "We don't need to cross
it. We're on the right side. Look at the map."
"Woof woof," said Brandy. So they carried on.
Some time later, tired and a little out of breath, the five came to a
stop.
"I think we should see something soon," said Baby Paws.
"What are we looking for?" asked Baby Applejack.
"I'm not sure. On the map it looks like a weird cloud thing."
"But it's sunny today. The sky is as clear as a bell," said
Baby Drummer.
Baby Bowtie looked at the map from the side. "Sillies!" she
laughed. "It's a tree! A fallen tree, on its side."
The other three looked sheepish. Then, "Woof woof!" barked
Brandy. The little dog ran off.
"Come back!" shouted Applejack. "Come back, Brandy!"
She turned to the others and whimpered. "He's run away. Majesty will
box our ears if we've lost him." And her eyes welled up with tears.
"Don't worry, Applejack," said Baby Bowtie, kindly. "We'll
find him. You've got his dog biscuits, remember? He never strays far from
his biscuits." And the four set off after Brandy.
They came to a clearing, and there, sat atop a giant fallen tree, was
Brandy! "Woof, woof," he said, running up and down the tree
with excitement, his tail wagging furiously. "Woof, woof!"
"Brandy! You clever, clever thing!" whooped Applejack as she
ran towards him and nuzzled him. "You've found the biggest stick
ever!" Brandy licked her face wth glee. The others laughed.
"Phew, that was exciting," said Baby Drummer. "I vote
we stop for lunch."
So the little ponies unpacked their sandwiches and their four bottles
of lemonade, and munched happily. Brandy tucked into his plate of dog
biscuits and a bowl of water!
