Five Go Camping

Note to readers: When I was a little girl, I used to love reading Enid
Blyton's Famous Five books. I also loved ponies. Here is my combination
of the two. I hope you enjoy it.

"Hooray!" cried Baby Drummer. "School is done for the
year!" He and Baby Paws raced to the station, their books and bags
flying behind them.
"Where are we meeting the girls?" asked Baby Paws.
"At Hathersage Station", replied his friend.

"Yippee! Silly old school is over until September!" yelled
Baby Applejack. "No more maths for months!"
"Well, I quite like maths," said Baby Bowtie. "And poetry.
I love poetry."
"Hurry up, you soppy wet," chuckled Applejack. "We'll
miss our train." So the two little ponies flew towards the station
and tumbled into their carriage.
At Hathersage Station they were greeted by whoops of delight.
"Now the summer really starts!" said Baby Paws. "We're
meeting Uncle Ice Crystai - he has all the camping stuff ready to go."
Uncle Ice Crystal greeted them with a hearty laugh.
"You young scallywags go and enjoy yourselves," he said, as
Brandy frolicked and barked his hellos. "Take care of the girls,
and be back in time for Sunday lunch."
"Will do!" the four cried. "Woof woof!" said Brandy.
And they headed off into the rolling Peak District hills.
"This looks like a good place for a camp," said Baby Drummer.
"And look at the soft grass. Let's get food and bedding,"
said Bowtie.
So the boys pitched the tent, while the girls gathered bedding and prepared
supper. Soon their kettle was whistling over an open fire, and as dusk
fell, they drank mugs of hot cocoa and watched the stars come out.
"This will be the best summer ever!", said Baby Applejack.
"I can smell an adventure in the air!"
